42nd Annual Olde York Street Fair
The 42nd Annual Olde York Street Fair is a York city tradition and definitely one mom shouldn’t miss. You’ll find handmade crafts, food, live entertainment, children’s entertainment and nonprofit, informational exhibits in Continental Square from 12:30 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14.

Some History in Store for Mother’s Day
The York County History Center is offering free tours of the Colonial Court House, along with tours of the General Gates House and Golden Plough Tavern ($1 for first-floor tours). Stop by the Historical Society Museum on East Market Street for an ice cream treat from noon to 5 p.m., sponsored by the Friends of the History Center.
A Spot of Tea for Mom
The Red Brick Bakery & Tea Room in Red Lion delivers a spot of tea for Mother’s Day. Afternoon teas with a four-course afternoon tea menu will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. and 1 and 4 p.m. as well as Sunday, May 14, at 10 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m. The cost is $26.50 per person, and reservations are required.
Wonders of ‘The Wiz’
It’s a soulful twist on The Wizard of Oz, but one that will nonetheless keep you and mom entertained. The Weary Arts Group, in partnership with the York Jewish Community Center and the York Youth Symphony Orchestra, brings The Wiz back to York. Show times are at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $10, $15 and $20, with a special group discount of 10 percent for four or more tickets purchased.
Mother’s Day Brunches Abound
We don’t have to be the ones to tell you about the Mother’s Day brunch offerings available at many downtown York and York County establishments, including Naylor Wine Cellars, The Accomac, Tutoni’s, Victor’s and Wyndridge Farm. Whatever place you choose for brunch, be sure to call ahead to make your reservations.
Richard Nixon Park is hosting a free Mother’s Day Walk from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. Explore the spring beauty of the park’s woodlands on a stroll with mom through the park.
You Can Fly with ‘Peter Pan and Mary’
Dreamwrights Center for Community Arts is taking audiences to Neverland with its production of Peter Pan and Mary. Developed by Paige Hoke and guest-directed by Andrea Unger, this performance features a cast and crew of more than 100 people to make this show possible.
Show times on Mother’s Day weekend are Saturday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 14, at 2:30 p.m. Advance seating is available at $10 for general seats and $14 for reserved seats. General admission seating is $12 at the door.
